Gatsby-Inspired Bridal Looks
The Baz Luhrmann-directed film “The Great Gatsby” doesn’t hit theaters until May 10th, but there is no denying the 1920s influence this highly anticipated period piece is inspiring on the ready-to-wear runways and couture to the bridal fashion shows presented last week in New York. The 1920s were a decade of opulence and romance and we have seen iconic styles of this era reinterpreted many times before, but this bridal interpretation feels far more glamourous. Carey Mulligan stars as Daisy Buchanan and is giving us a modern version of the 20s lady. We expect brides to take a cue not only from her decadent hair and makeup in the film, but also incorporate 20s themes of glitz and glamour into their spring and summer weddings and more importantly, in their dresses. We have selected some of the most beautiful, 1920s-inspired styles from the 2014 collections presented last week in New York.
