Do or Don't: Wedding dress shopping with your fiancé?
I was watching one of the many TLC wedding shows, and this series follows brides on their journey for the perfect wedding dress. In this particular episode, the bride was torn because her fiancé loved a beaded, halter dress and she preferred something a little more regal. Yes, she took her fiancé wedding dress shopping. I was shocked! “Where are your girls?” I shouted at the screen. I felt sorry for her as the camera filmed her milling over her decision to please her soon-to-be-husband versus what she really loved. I started thinking about whether I would have taken my now-husband dress shopping, and I don’t think I would, (not to mention he is not a fan of shopping anyway), but I do think my desire to please him would have influenced the decision way too much. The Dress is such a huge piece of the wedding planning and it really is a reflection of who YOU are. However, maybe it’s becoming more common, couples are getting married later and are paying more and more for their own weddings, perhaps more grooms want their input on The Dress. Ultimately, the bride in the show went with her choice and her fiancé ended up loving the gown. Would you take your fiancé wedding dress shopping? Is it considered old fashioned not to consult your fiancé on the dress now?
